5 Great Years!!

Friday was our 5th anniversary. Trav and I both had to work so we didn't really celebrate until yesterday. Travis decided that he was going to plan the fun this year. We usually go to dinner and a movie, but this year he went all out. He arranged for Jo Jo to watch Addison (thanks again, Jo!), and we set out on the surprise adventure. The car was full of blankets and pillows, and he told me to bring a sweatshirt, so I figured we were headed up to the mountains. We drove up to Yellow Pine in the Uintas. It was so beautiful, and nice to escape the heat. We drove until we found the perfect spot, and then set up our little camp.
If you know Travis at all, you know that his brain works like a day-timer. He has everything scheduled and segmented into increments of time. First, we set up the fire, and then I asked him what was next. He told me that it was "talk time" from 5:30-6:30, until the coals was ready to cook over. Once again, if you know Travis at all, you know that "talk time" is really unusual, especially an hour of "talk time", so I took full advantage of that. It was fun to have the time just to talk. About half way through the special "talk time," Trav asked if I felt like a little music. Thinking that he was just going to crank up the radio in the car, I said no. Once again, he asked if I wanted to hear a little music. Finally realizing that he was on to something, I said yes. He walked over to the bag and pulled out a case, and told me to open it. To my surprise, there was a cute pink iPod Nano and speakers. It was such a thoughtful gift, because I have wanted an iPod for a long time now..the best part is that the music and pictures of my sweet Addi were already loaded on it.
To the tunes of some of our favorite songs, we cooked hot dogs, and waded in the freezing stream. After dinner, we went over to the blankets and cuddled up to one another. I asked him what was next, and he told me to go to the car and look for the envelope in the glove box. Confused, I did what he asked and found a Netflicks envelope with 'Fools Gold' inside of it. He pulled out a portable DVD player, and some pre-popped bags of popcorn and some theater candy..once again, a complete surprise, especially for Trav because he usually forgets the minor details. It was a good movie, and fun to watch it in the mountains.
We were suppose to stay up there until the stars came out, but I was anxious to head home and get Addison, and Trav started getting a headache, so we left shortly after the movie ended. We had such a great time though! I am so glad that Trav decided to plan this year's fun! He did a great job, and I was really impressed with his thoughtfulness, and the time he took to make everything perfect!

It's crazy that it's been 5 years. Time flies when you're having fun! I love you Trav! I can't wait to make the next 5 years even better than the first!

It's Decided!!

So, after a week of working, I decided that it wasn't worth it! I never saw Travis, and it broke my heart to leave Addison at home. Although I knew she was just fine at home, I didn't want to get a phone call telling me that my sweet baby had reached milestones without me there. To some, (especially my boss), this may seem a little fickle, but I could never have known this wasn't for me, without giving it a try. I told my boss on Monday that I decided I needed to be home. Although I really only wanted to work two more weeks, my last day will be August 1st. I have a co-worker who is taking a three week vacation, and my manager just recently resigned, so they really need my help.

In addition to working for Marriott, I have been helping my Dad in the mornings. He is a real estate agent, and I have been helping him get his files in order, listings on the MLS, and taking care of other office misc. tasks. In essence, I have been working full time for the past week and a half (sigh)! After I finish with Marriott I will continue to help my Dad. I can take Addi to the office with me, and can do a lot the work from home. I am excited for the chance to still be working, (just a bit - only about 10 hours a week), but most importantly to be working at my most important job - BEING A MOMMA!

Working Mom Woes...

So, I have returned to work. Boo! It's a lot harder than I ever thought it would be. I cry every morning when I think about having to leave Addison. I know in my head that she is safe at home with Daddy, but that doesn't make my heart feel any better. I work 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM, and Travis works 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM. In addition to leaving my sweet Addi, I never get to see my husband. Everyone keeps telling me that things will get better, but this is tough!

Addi's Blessing

We blessed Addison Mae Gines on Sunday, June 1, 2008. I was nervous for Travis, but he said some beautiful things. He blessed Addison to listen to her mom, and look to her for guidance. He blessed her to have a healthy body and an open mind, and to stay close to Christ in all things. I am grateful for a husband who is worthy to bless our family with the holy priesthood.

After the blessing, we had the family and friends over for some lunch. It was fun to have everyone there to visit.

Addison wore the dress that I was blessed in. She actually fit in it better than I did when I was a baby. When I wore it, I was so chubby, they couldn't do up the top button.

I am so glad that we were blessed with such a wonderful baby. Addison has enriched our lives in ways that I didn't think was possible. I am so grateful for every moment I get to spend with her.

The Front Runner

Last Friday, my sister Janelle had a gallery opening where her pottery was showcased. It was up in Ogden, and rather than fighting the traffic and construction all the way up, my mom, nephew Ethan, Addi, and I went on the Front Runner. It was our first experience, and it was fun. Ethan especially loved it. He was so excited about his trip that he fell asleep that night with his ticket in his hand...so cute!

Once we made it to Ogden, we were excited to see Janelle's name on the billboard, and her awesome pottery. She is so talented, and I am proud of her accomplishments.

This time of year is my favorite because Janelle shows her work at the farmer's market in Salt Lake, at Pioneer Park, every Saturday. Madi, Ethan, Mom, and I go in and get a pastry and wander around for awhile. Occassionally, we even treat ourselves to a taco. I'm excited to take Addison and enjoy the fun!

Lots of Babies!

It seems that this is the year of babies for me, and my girlfriends from high school. Out of the 10 of us that hung out together, 6 of us have had or will have babies in 2008. My friends Chelsea, and Beth had babies that were born just a few weeks after Addison was. Here is a picture of us at a baby shower that we had in March.

Chelsea, Me, and Beth (all pregnant), and cute Melissa who threw the shower

And here is a picture of our sweet babies.

Good luck and best wishes to Paige and Jessica who are expecting their little boys very soon. I can't wait to see your little ones when they arrive!
