What a Difference...

A year makes...

My baby is growing so fast, I can't even stand it!

Addison found this picture today, and kept saying, "Baby, cute" I tried to explain to her that it was a picture of her, but she didn't quite get it. It was pretty cute!

Addison went to Nursery for the first time on Sunday. I prepped her all day, telling her how much fun it would be to play with all the kids, and eat treats, worried that it would be a nightmare. Boy, was I wrong!! I walked in the door, told the teacher Addi's name, and put her down to give her a hug. She walked right over to the tiny chairs, hoisted herself up, and blew me a kiss good-bye. That was that! She loved it and did so well. If not for getting her finger slammed in the door about ten minutes before church ended, she would have stayed the whole time. I love that she loved it, and I love that I could actually enjoy church again, and feel the spirit! What a difference not having to worry about your baby makes! Hooray for Nursery!

The other day I was really struggling with Addi's hair. I hated the way that it was looking, and she wouldn't let me put piggies in, or anything to fix it. I decided that I would try curling it. I was nervous to burn her because she's such a wiggle worm, but it worked, and I love the way that it looks now. It's amazing what a little curl can do. Now when I see her, I am reminded of what I used to look like when I was little. My own baby pictures are few to say the least because I was the youngest of four girls, and my parent's lives were crazy (bless them)..so this is the best I have. But, what do you think?

Natalie - I'm not sure the year of these. I know the first one was Christmas 1984, I was almost 2.

18 Months!!!

Addison is another month older! She's made it to the ripe old age of 18 months! I've been anxiously awaiting 18 months, because that means one thing...NURSERY! Now, however, I am nervous. I'm not nervous to drop her off, and miss her, just nervous that my kid will be the bully that picks on everyone, and that they'll kick her out. Addison hangs out with her 5 year old cousin, Ethan, quite a bit, and has beat him up several times. She's not afraid of anyone or anything. My daughter is tough! She knows what she wants, and isn't shy about letting you know when she does.

I'm sure she'll do fine in Nursery though, because they give out snacks. If there is one thing that settles her down, it's snacks! Addison loves to eat. She loves to eat so much in fact, that she does not chew her food. She swallows most things whole. Does this concern me?..Why yes it does! Have I tried to make her chew, and cut her food into smaller bites..Absolutely! Does it keep her from doing it...No Way! She shoves things into her mouth so fast that she can out eat me any day. We went to Village Inn for my sister Madi's birthday breakfast, and Addison ate my whole French Toast platter. I got maybe 5 or 6 bites. She ate the rest!! Addi is an expert eater!

Addison is my silly, sweet goof ball! She loves to play, dance, jump, watch her shows, go outside, and read. She makes me laugh all of the time, and is developing a sense of humor more and more. One of her favorite toys is her sand bucket that she uses as a hat most of the time!

Addi loves to tickle people, and to be tickled. She says, "tickle, tickle", and laughs and laughs! She gives hugs and kisses more often, and snuggles longer at bedtime!

I can't believe how smart Addison is. She is constantly amazing me with the things she knows. I get so excited when I see her master something new, and so surprised when it's something that I haven't even thought to teach her. She is a little mimic, and copies lots of the things she sees us doing. She's learning more and more words each day. My favorite is when she points to her dad and says, "Weirdo!" Addison can count to 10. She misses a few numbers here and there, but has mastered 1-2-3, 8-9-10. The others are hit and miss. She knows most of her body parts. She is learning the words to "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star," and it's one of the cutest things I have ever heard!

I love Addison! I'm so glad that I get to be her mom through the good, the bad! I feel pretty lucky to have her in my life!

San Diego...Again!

We just got back from San Diego. We are lucky that my Dad has a house there, and we got pretty cheap airfare, so it was an inexpensive get-away! Unfortunately, I am cursed, and get sick every time we go on vacation; and I passed my germs to Travis and to Addi..SO, it wasn't the best trip..but still a good time!

We went up to the Wild Animal Park. We'd never been before, and it was fun!

We saw lots of animals, including a giraffe with an extremely long, crazy tongue, and a lion and lioness.

Addison loved riding the carousel!

The best part was paying $3 to feed the Lorakeets! Seriously...I have never seen so many birds up close, and hungry! At first, Addison was terrified, but warmed up quickly!

The birds loved my Mom!

It was fun, but this was the scene at the end of the day..Travis was really glad to be done, and Addi was exhausted!

The next day we went to the Birch Aquarium. Addison has a fishy night light in her bedroom at home, and loves to count the fish, so we figured she'd love it. She loved first few tanks, said hello to all the fishies with her kissy lips, and counted, and smiled. Trav skipped most of the other exhibits though because Addison doesn't like to wait her turn, and threw a fit. She did okay outside though.

She liked touching the starfish.

And looking in the tide pools

The next few days were spent resting, and hanging out, trying to get better. We did make it to the chilly beach for a walk on the board walk before heading home.
