Halloween

Every year, my family has a Halloween party. We all get together and eat chili, and breadsticks. We love to think of creative costumes, and dress up. My sister Madi actually starts thinking of their costumes a year in advance.

This is Madi's family. Ethan is the pirate. Troy is the pirate ship, and Madi is pirate booty..(notice the extra large stuffed booty..so creative!)

Here's a picture of my sister Janelle, and her husband Tim. They went as board games. Janelle was a Barrel of Monkeys, and Tim was Operation. Tim is a genius and built a circuit that actually made his costume light up, and buzz!

It was fun to have Addison here this year, and to dress her up. We were mermaids. Unfortunately, Travis had to work. He was grateful because I was going to make him go as King Triton.I bought Addison's costume in early September, and tried it on her when it came. It was too big for her then. When I went to put it on her for the party, it almost didn't fit. I had to squish her into it. Her poor toes were so cramped that she was only in it for a few minutes..but she was sure cute!

My Mom spent lots of time making a costume, but threw out her back, so she went as a headache, and will use her other costume next year. Here's a picture of her with the littlest mermaid.

The pirate and the mermaid

Last year, our costume was so cute, I thought I would share...
I was a 'Bun in the Oven', and Trav was the 'Bun Maker'

These are just for fun, but I couldn't resist. Her shirt says "Mommy's Under My Spell". It's so true. I love this little sweetie!!

Sniffer

Addison has new tricks each day. She's always keeping me entertained. Today, she discovered that she can breathe out of her nose. She's pretty cute!

We have entered the realm of 'real' food. She eats like she has never eaten before in her life. She can't get enough of the stuff. I put some in her mouth and before I even get the spoon full again, her mouth is open, and she's ready for more. So far she has only had sweet potatoes, and squash, (one food at a time, to avoid allergies), but her clothes will never be the same again. Milk spit up may have had a funny odor, but it was not ORANGE! Now, we just have funny smelling orange spit up. A lovely combination!

She's still eating rice cereal in the mornings and the evenings, has baby food for lunch, and still nurses as she pleases (early morning, mid morning, mid afternoon, evening, and before bed). It's like I can't keep the kid full. She's eating all of the time. I guess the chubbier the better at this age, right?

The S.F. Surprise!

Finally, after months of planning and scheming, our fun weekend away has come and gone. We (Jolene, Kelli, Jess, and I), surprised all of our husbands with an early Christmas present...a trip to San Francisco, to see the 49ers play.

On Saturday morning, Travis came home from work, and thought we were headed on a road trip to St. George with our friends David and Aubrey. When he saw that the car wasn't packed, and that his Mom and Dad were there to pick us up, he was a little confused. Keith, Trav's Dad, was also confused as we drove past the Sunshine Cafe, where he thought we were stopping to eat breakfast before we left on our trip to St. George.

On the way to the airport, they kept asking questions about where we were headed, and wondered if we were flying to Wyoming to watch the Utes play, which is where Adam thought he was headed. Once inside the airport, we all met together, and gave the guys a package wrapped in Christmas paper. Inside the package was a 49ers sweatshirt.

They were so excited! All of them were shocked that we had actually pulled it off without blurting out the secret long ago. There were a few close calls, and some worries, like when Travis picked up a shift for Monday night, and said that we could just drive home from St. George early, but we pulled it off, and it was a fun surprise!

We flew on a little tiny Delta Connection plane. Addison did really well for her first flight, and enjoyed sucking on the hard cookies they gave out..It made a mess, and she nearly choked, but it was fun while it lasted! Once we landed in Oakland, we made our way using the BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit), to the hotel. We decided that we were going to use BART, instead of renting a car. It's so expensive to park in SF!

Unfortunately, there were no rooms available in SF, so we had to stay in nasty Oakland, but I think it added to the adventure!

When we finally got past the nightmare of checking in (we had horribly, rude front desk clerks), we got back on the BART, and headed to Ricky's a sports bar, to watch the Utes play. I knew when we were planning this trip, that we would have to make arrangements for the guys to watch their BELOVED Utes, or they would be upset. Luckily, I found a place close to the BART, that had the Mountain Network, and it worked out perfectly! They gave us our own private room, and the food was delicious!

After the game, Travis had been awake for almost 30 hours, with no sleep, so he went to bed, and the rest of us went to Pier 39.

Sunday was the big day! We headed once again on the BART, to Candlestick Park to watch the game. Even though they lost to the Eagles, there were some exciting moments that made us think that a win was possible.

The game was LONG, but fun! We had awesome seats, and it was a beautiful day!

The rest of the trip, we spent most of the time down on the pier. We went to Lombard Street, and Ghiradelli Square and had sundaes. We ate chowder or chili in yummy sourdough bread bowls at Boudins, and of course, had burgers at In and Out.

But, my favorite part of the trip was the bike ride we took along the beach, to the Golden Gate Bridge. It was so beautiful! Even though Trav crashed, and sent Addi flying (she's was just fine, and slept through it all), and my butt is still sore, it was still the highlight for me!

It was an awesome trip! Thanks especially to Jo for making it possible, and to Kelli and Jess for helping to plan, and keeping the big secret. It was so much fun!
