I Ate My Words...

After years of driving an ugly, broken down blue Dodge Caravan all through High School and after, I SWORE I would NEVER, EVER drive a Van again. Two Saturdays ago, right after Girl's Camp, I ate my words, and we signed the papers on this new beauty...A 2012 Honda Odyssey EX-L.
A few months ago, Travis started talking about buying a van. I brushed it off, and told him, "No Way!" He kept at it, gently suggesting, and showing me cool features that the new Vans offer. I kept showing him Crossover SUV's, and tried to convince him that a Crossover was the right option for us. After researching and comparing countless vehicles, focusing on miles per gallon, I agreed to test drive a Honda Odyssey. I told Travis that I was going to be really negative and that he and the salesperson was going to have to work hard to convince me. After we got there, and I hessitantly got behind the wheel, no convincing was necessary. The van spoke for itself.
It has so many cool features, including automatic doors, which I love! No more will Addison smack another car's door by opening her door too hastily. The liftgate is also automatic. It has Blue Tooth, leather, and heated seats, a back up camera, a cool box. And...don't forget about ALL of the space. It's so roomy and the girls love it!!! It's so easy to get them in and out without having to bend over and kill my back.
I had to let go of my pride, and eat my words, but once I did, I've been loving my new ride! I'm officially a Mom with a Minivan!

Girl's Camp 2012

I was privledged to go to Girl's Camp the end of June. We went up to a Boy Scout Camp up in the Uintas at the East Fork of the Bear River. We had an amazing time, despite a few things, like the no-fire restrictions, and no running water the first day. Here we are just before leaving, all clean and cute!
Our theme this year was B.O.O.T. Camp, "Build Our Own Testimonies".
We had a great time planning the details, but it was even better for me watching things fall into place, and the girls enjoying our plans. The first day, we gave the girls their shirts, and then headed to do several team building activities.
Our girls were darling, and helpful, and fun to be around!
One of the higlights was rifle shooting!
We were BLESSED to have this guy, Ross Kunzler, with us the whole time! We couldn't have asked for better!
We really do have the best young women!
My absolute favorite was canoeing! We actually got in the water, thanks to Suzanne, and her boldness, and loved every minute of it, including dunking Brittany, and Brooke!
The last night we dediced that we all wanted to be in the tent together. It was like playing Tetris to get us and our mattresses and sleeping gear in one tent..we had to take a picture. They are a bit blury, but you get the idea. It was fun!
Our camp was a success, and lots of fun too! I'm so glad I had the chance to go, and to get to know our young women, and even the leaders on a more intimate level. I'm surrounded by awesome people, and blessed to have this calling!

Father's Day...

The girls made Travis gifts for Father's Day at school, and they were so excited to give them to him. Unfortunately, he was gone most of the day working, but at least we got this picture before he had to leave.

Temple Hike

To celebrate 100 years of Girl's Camp, our Stake Young Women's program put together a temple hike. We hiked from our Stake President's house in the hills of Farmington, all the way to the temple. It was about 7.5 miles total, and quite strenuous at times. The girls were excited, and it was an awesome way to spend a Saturday morning.
All along the trail, they had quotes, and it helped encourage me to keep going.
It was quite a sight to see all the girls and leaders making their way to the temple...
The views along the way were great too. I love Davis County!
Once we reached Rocket Park, we cooled off with Pace's popcicles, and had an inspiring devotional about how making the temple your goal is worth waiting for.
As we were hiking, nearing the temple, I noticed this bag, and thought it summed up everything we were sweating and working hard for, it's because, "WE BELIEVE!"
On Vineyard Dr...almost there!
We made it!!
