Addison's Birthday
This year was a special year for Addison. It was her "magical" birthday. She turned 4 on 4/4! To celebrate, we had a 'Magic Sparkle Princess Fairy Party," complete with a pink sparkle birthday cake, her favorite, pineapple pizza, and a crew of people that love her!
Before I put Addison to sleep on the eve of her birthday, she said that she would like me to come and wake her up in the morning on her special birthday. Of course, I told her that I would, and did. That morning, Addison woke up with a knowledge that it was her special day, and that she could give her demands, and that they would be met. She said that she wanted Dad to make her pancakes for breakfast, and that she wanted chocolate milk, and to watch a show while she ate. She got what she wanted and was a happy girl, ready to head out to school.
I asked her if she wanted to take a special birthday treat to her friends at school, but the silly thing said that she didn't want anyone at school to know that it was her special day. Weird, but fair enough! She had a normal day at school, and then came home to these awesome signs that Ethan and Grandma Jer had made for her. These made her day, and she was so excited to pull up to our house and know that someone cared!
As soon as we got home, Addison immediately wanted to get dressed up in her fairy wings and fancy skirt. She wore it proudly up until it was time for the party, and then she got sick of it, so Marty and Berta decided to wear them instead!
At the party, we ate, and made fun foam crowns for all of the kids, and then, we watched Addi open ALL of her presents. She had asked for seven Barbies, but ended up with nine! At one point, Gage said, "If she opens up another Barbie, I'll die!" Sure enough, it was a Barbie, and he and Ethan "died".
I was a little disappointed with Addi's birthday cake, because I wanted something more spectacular, like Hailey's cake was, but ran out of time, and inspiration. Addi said she wanted a pink sparkle birthday cake, and that's what she got. Luckily, I found these cute fairy cupcake toppers on Etsy last minute, to add a little something to them.
Addison is a spit-fire! She is so clever, and witty. She is very smart, and knows all of her letters, and can write most of them. She loves to ask me how to spell words so that she can give cards, pictures, and of course, treasure maps to her Dad, Hailey, and other lucky individuals. Addison loves to color! Our fridge is covered in her latest artwork masterpieces. She takes her work very seriously, and gets VERY upset if a piece is out of place, or Hailey crumples one.
She is still as particular as ever with everything that she does. She is deliberate in her actions, and has a process for everything. If something is done incorrectly, you'll hear about it! She is now sitting in a booster seat, and loves that she is a big girl, but struggles with the seat belt EVERY TIME! She wants it so loose that she might as well not even be wearing it. We've had several talks about the importance of wearing a seat belt to keep you safe, and it helps for a bit, but seriously, if it would just click in her head, and she'd get over the little annoyance a seat belt can cause, it would make my life so much easier! Because Addi throws such a stink, Hailey thinks that is what you're suppose to be doing in the car, and follow suit. Most of the time, I have two screaming girls in the backseat. Needless to say, car rides are not my favorite!
Even though Addison quit taking dance classes awhile ago, because she "never ever wanted to be a ballerina again," she still loves to sing and dance. Lately, she likes to watch the Tangled song "When Will My Life Begin", on YouTube and sing and dance along to it. She has almost all the words memorized, and when she doesn't know them, she smiles, and mumbles through. It's cute! At church on Sunday, I could distinctly hear Addison's voice above all the rest during singing time while I sat a few doors away in Sunday School class. It made me smile to hear her loudly and proudly sing out. A few months ago, we were preparing as Young Women and Leaders to sing in Sacrament meeting. I played the song at home quite a bit so that I could get familiar with the words and melody. In so doing, apparently Addison learned the words too. My Mom said that while we were on stage singing, Addison sang right along and knew every word.
Addison is a very sensitive, dramatic four year old. She is full of life and love! I am so happy to be her Mom, and proud of the little lady she is growing into!
