Hailey's getting BIG!
It's always a good thing to know that you're kids are growing up, and that they are reaching the milestones that they are suppose to, but man, it's also hard! Hailey is now 19 Months old. What?!? I blinked and she was rolling over, blinked again, and she was crawling, blinked one more time, and she was running at top speed, creating chaos in a way only Hailey knows how! She's crafty, this Hailey girl! She was a quiet observer for a long time, and just started to really talk within the last few months. She just watched, and watched. In watching, she learned what bugs people, and what people enjoy. Her favorite thing to do is pester people. She's a giant tease, and likes to take things that aren't hers, eat other people's food, and pull her sister's hair. She does all of it to see what kind of reaction she can get out of people. Hailey is a pro at Time Out, because she knows that certain things she does sends her straight there, but she doesn't mind. She does her naughty business, because it's fun for her, and makes people react, and then heads right to time out, climbs the stair, folds her arms, and does her time. I can't help but laugh every time, because she is so deliberate in her actions.
Hailey, although a trouble maker at times, is a sweetheart most of the other time. She loves to give "Big Giant Hailey Hugs," where she wraps both arms around your neck and squeezes as hard as she can. She gives great kisses too. Hailey loves to carry babies around, and is really a cute little momma, feeding them their bottles, and changing their clothes. Of course, she's always ready to say "naked" when she takes their clothes off. She crinkles her little nose, and gets a kick out of being naked, especially when she is the one who is! She also loves to play with Addison's "bobbies" (Barbies). Of course, she still has her "blankey-ah." I think Hay should have been born Italian, because lots of things she says ends in the "ah" sound, like "Addi-ah, "Mommy-ah", "Baby-ah." Other words though, are getting much more pronounced. The other day, as I got out of the shower, I quickly grabbed my robe, and went to investigate why Hailey was crying. She and Addison were sitting at the bar eating breakfast. I asked Addi what had happened, and why Hay was crying. She didn't say anything, but just looked at me innocently. So, I asked again. Out of the blue, Hailey said, "Addi hit!" Busted! Hailey can stand up for herself with her words now, and it's awesome! I think my favorite word from her lately is diapers. She says it in such a wacky way!
Hailey's favorite word is still, "EAT!" Not only is it her favorite word, it's her favorite thing to do! She is always chewing on something, and if she's not, she's asking to. She is a little scavenger, and beggar, and does whatever she can to get food or a drink from someone else. She's not a huge fan of eating her own food that is given to her, but rather to eat someone else's. She's got a giant toddler belly, but isn't measuring too high on the charts for weight. I think she looks so out of proportion because she still has such tiny feet! It's a wonder she can even walk around on them! That may be part of the reason she is so accident prone! Everyday, Hay has a new bruise or scratch or goose egg. She's always getting hurt and falling, and usually it's not just a nice easy fall, but the kind that rip your gut out, and scare you to death as you watch them happening. She's tough though, and bounces back quickly!
Hay Hay loves to play with other kids. She's not always nice to them, but likes to play with them. She's been given several pink slips from KinderCare for different reasons, like pinching and pulling hair. Although, she's also been the recipient of some bullying too. She's been bitten a few times at school. She loves Nursery, and has gone with out complaint for several weeks in a row. Her favorite friend though, is her big sister Addison. Every morning, she wakes up, and the first word out of her mouth is, "Addi-ah"? Usually Addison sleeps later than Hailey, so I explain to her that Addi is still sleeping. She will say, "Oh." but, then ask again in a few minutes for her favorite pal. They play well together most of the time, and it's fun for me to watch and listen in on those sweet moments together. But, of course, we also have moments where I can't get them apart from each other fast enough because one is screaming, or both are yelling, and there is a "crisis" that needs to be settled! Those moments make me crazy, but as I sit typing this now, even those hectic moments, make me smile. I'm sure lucky to have these girls!
