Grandma Goose

On December 30, 2012, my Grandma Goose passed away. My Grandma had a profound impact on my life. She was the greatest example of sacrifice and service. She gave and loved more than anyone I know. Grandma was notorious for handwritten notes of encouragement and happiness always signed XOXO, Grandma. Grandma delighted in chocolate, babies, beautifully wrapped packages, The Tabernacle Choir, and the gospel of Jesus Christ. She was a great missionary and carried Books of Mormon with her along her in her many travels, and I know that she touched many lives. I know that Grandma was welcomed in Heaven by all her loved ones, including Grandpa Jerry, and sweet Aunt Cathy, but even almost a year later, we sure miss her! I miss her soft hugs, cackle laugh, and happy spirit. I love you, Grandma Goose!
Kaysville — Carolyn Moon Pitt Stuart,79, died Sunday, December 30, 2012. She leaves a legacy of love for family, gratitude for friends, and compassion for those in need. She had a deep appreciation for the beauty she found daily in the art, music, and scenery of the world around her. She recognized every good thing as a gift from her Heavenly Father and she spent her life sharing those gifts of love, testimony, and time with anybody who needed them. We are confident her life of giving is being rewarded by a joyous reunion with her family and her Heavenly Father. Carolyn was born May 11, 1933, to John R. and LaDell (Leonard) Moon in Farmington. She lived most of her life in Davis County and she loved its mountains, its sunsets, and its people. She graduated from Davis High School and married her high school sweetheart, Jerald S. Pitt on June 20,1952. They had three children before he passed away on June 24, 1966. Upon his death, she took on the responsibility for their family business and served as owner and manager of the Mother Goose Shops for 25 years. Hundreds of children came to know her as Grandma Goose because of her generosity with good books and fine clothing. She married Deon W. Stuart on Sept 12,1967, and welcomed his children to her family. She then added her business experience to Stuart Inc. and together she and Deon worked in multiple business and civic responsibilities through the years. For all of her community involvement, the Gospel of Jesus Christ was the true core of her life. She served for many years in Ward and Stake Young Women and Relief Society callings. She particularly enjoyed the years of missionary service, hosting, and decorating that she and Deon contributed on Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah. She is survived by: her husband Deon W. Stuart. children Jerolyn Call (Farmington), John (Wendy) Pitt (Bountiful), DeNiece Elliott (Kaysville), Michelle (John) Carr (Kaysville), Rosa (Randy) Reed, West Bountiful, Shari (Doug) Carling (Providence), sons-in-law Jeff Barnes (Smithfield) and Wayne Croft (South Jordan), wonderful brother Leonard (Delores) Moon (Lehi), 19 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Pitt, parents, siblings Ann and Douglas Moon, daughters Cathryn Barnes and Veon Croft. Funeral services will be held: Friday January 4, 2013 at noon in the Kaysville 7th Ward LDS Chapel. 331 S. 50 West, Kaysville.
