In the Spirit of Thanksgiving

I have so much to be thankful for...

These two top my list!

I challenged myself in September to say "I'm Thankful for..." prayers. To read the post, click here. I did well for awhile, then I slunk back into my normal habits of always needing.

On Sunday, the speaker related ingratitude to 'a hog hungrily eating acorns at the base of a tree without looking up to see where the acorns were coming from.' In my mind that picture just clicked. So often, I am a hog. I eat and eat, and continue to eat. But, what if the acorns stopped coming, only then would I think to look from where they came and squeal in protest for more.

I am going to try more fervently this time, to show real gratitude and appreciation for all my blessings.

What are you thankful for?

Oh the Joy!

Addison pooped in the tub today. I will spare you the gross details, and the picture (I texted it to Trav to tell him what a "crappy" day we were having). He told me later, that I will soon be laughing at my horrific experience today. I'm still not laughing, but it got me to thinking...

My kid may do disgusting things (like poop in the tub), and have a bad day or two, (throwing her body around in a full tantrum in the middle of the busiest aisle at Smith's), but regardless of those things, I will ALWAYS love her!

I have a plate that my Mother-in-Law gave me, that sits on top of my fireplace. It says, "Life is to be enjoyed, not just endured. - President Gordon B. Hinckley" It's a constant reminder to me that I SHOULD be enjoying things that are going on around me, especially my WONDERFUL 19 month old daughter, that sometimes drives me crazy! Life will pass by whether I am enjoying it or not..I'd rather be enjoying! Maybe I'll laugh about the poop tomorrow!

Addison at 19 Months...

At 19 months old, Addison:

- Has an eye infection
- Doesn't eat nearly like she used to. She still loves bananas, Cheerios, green beans, and hamburgers.
- Is a terrible napper
- Is learning new words like crazy! It's hard to keep a running list, there are so many now. Some of my favorites are, "Shanks, Mom.", "I wuv you" and "Shee ya!"
- LOVES to dance (see the video below)
- Wakes up each morning and takes inventory of where her family is. She says each person's name (grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and the dog..really everyone she knows!), and waits for me to tell her where they are. She always starts with Dad!
- Makes me laugh constantly
- Still has a bit of a temper, and a lingering diaper rash..maybe the two are connected?!?
- Eats like a pro with a spoon
- Has 11 teeth
- Loves "Bwoos Quoos" (Blues Clues), and "Melmo" (Elmo)
- Is getting adjusted to Nursery on Sundays, and seems to like it over all
- Loves to play "Beep, Beep" in the car
- Still climbs on the table and thinks it's hilarious
- Is obsessed with her "shoos"
- Still uses her binki, and carries her blankey. Sometimes she'll give me the binki when I ask her for it. She's getting better at not having it.
- Hates sitting in the grocery cart. She has to be walking and help push. It's a pain, and I don't like taking her shopping.
- Really loves to play with her cousin "E"
- Is darling, and the light of my life!!!!

I love you, Addison!!

Halloween!

We had another great family Halloween party this year, complete with crazy costumes, chili and bread sticks, and loads of fun! Unfortunately, most of the family was sick this year, and couldn't make it.

We dealt with a bit of swine flu ourselves...(This is my Mom. She even made her hat..she's so clever!)

Luckily, Superman was there to save the day! Lois Lane showed up too, so did Lex Luthor with a little Kryptonite.

There was a buck-toothed yokel

The greatest wicked witch you've ever seen..check out the warts on her legs...(click to enlarge)

The witch brought her friend Gandhi

Little Red Riding Hood, her Grandma, and the Big Bad Wolf were there too...

Red was feeling a bit under the weather, so good pictures were hard to come by..this is the best we got. She loved opening the door for the Trick-or-Treaters, and despite feeling yucky, had a pretty good day!

Thanks for the fun everyone, we can't wait until next year!!!
